Tahlequah High School’s Kylie Fisher
While most high school freshmen are still finding their footing, Tahlequah High School’s Kylie Fisher is already making waves on the golf course with a maturity and skill level that belies her age.
Fisher’s impressive resume includes a career-low round of 67 — under par — at Broken Arrow Golf & Athletic Club, a score that would make golfers twice her age envious. But it’s not just her scoring ability that sets her apart; it’s her approach to the game and life.
“My parents inspire me because of their work ethic and their kindness,” Fisher said. “They have made so many sacrifices for me and the support they have provided me throughout my life. They always tell me to stay strong, never give up and dream big.”
Those lessons have translated directly to her performance on the course. Fisher competed in her first Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour Red River Team Challenge against Texas in 2024 at Dornick Hills, an experience she describes as her best to date.
“It was challenging and it brings back memories,” Fisher said of the Dornick Hills course. “It was the best experience I have had against some of the best players from Oklahoma and Texas.”
Fisher’s favorite club is her 8-iron, which she calls her most consistent weapon. Currently, she’s focused on improving her short game, specifically her 40–80-yard approach shots to set up more birdie opportunities and reduce three-putts.
Beyond the fairways and greens, Fisher maintains a balanced life. The freshman helps her father feed cattle on the family ranch, plays piano and enjoys time with her dogs, family and friends. In the classroom, science ranks as her favorite subject.
“Golf has taught me that you have to be honest and have integrity,” Fisher said. “Golf has also taught me patience because the rounds can get long. You must be calm and just play one shot at a time. Every shot is not going to be perfect.”
With three more years ahead of her at Tahlequah High School, Fisher’s journey is just beginning.
