Tahlequah’s Ashton Morgan – Football Spotlight

Under the Friday night lights, Tahlequah High School’s Ashton Morgan thrives on the energy, the competition, and the lessons the game continues to teach him. “My sport has taught me to not give up and to always try in everything I do,” he said. That mindset fuels the wide receiver both on and off the field, pushing him to grow as a player and as a person.

For Morgan, success doesn’t just happen under the lights—it’s built long before kickoff. “During the offseason I’m in the gym every day getting stronger and going to the field frequently to work on route running and catching skills,” he said. His focus and determination have one clear goal in mind: making history. “My personal accomplishment I hope to have for the upcoming season is to break the individual game receiving touchdown record.”

Morgan knows football is a team effort, and his teammates play a major role in his drive. “Number 13, Isvan Santana, is always there for me and makes playing so much better while on the field together,” he said. The two have built a connection that shows in their chemistry and execution on game day.

He’s also quick to recognize the people who have shaped his journey. “My favorite coach is coach (Dub) Williams because he teaches in-game skills and believes in my potential,” Morgan said. That belief has motivated him to play with confidence and trust in his preparation. Off the field, support continues from the classroom to the stands. “Mrs. Langston has to be my favorite teacher because I have known her since my freshman year and she is always there at all of our games cheering for everyone.”

When asked which matchup he’s most excited for, Morgan didn’t hesitate. “The matchup I’m most looking forward to has to be Claremore because both the years I have played them it has been a close game the entire time,” he said. Competitive games like that bring out the best in him, giving him the opportunity to prove what he’s capable of.

As his high school career continues, Morgan’s dedication and faith in his work ethic remain strong. And no matter where football takes him, he already has a plan for his future. “After high school, if I don’t get a football scholarship, I will go for a career in electrical to start making money,” he said.

Focused, hardworking, and motivated, Ashton Morgan represents what it means to be a true Tahlequah Tiger—driven by purpose, passion, and pride in the game.
